How to Help the Buyer Fall in Love with Your House!
- Turn on all the lights before showing; it makes rooms appear larger. Dust all
light fixtures.
- Keep curtains/drapes open and windows washed. Repair broken windows,
screens and shutters.
- Make up beds with attractive spreads.
- Keep all stairways and halls clear of hazards. Remove excess furniture where
it might create a crowded impression.
- Fix leaky faucets, squeaking doors, and re-caulk where necessary.
- Keep bathrooms clean, with hung up matching towels, if possible.
- Shampoo carpets and wax floors, if necessary.
- Let your kitchen look warm and inviting! Remove counter clutter, keep sinks
shinning and free of dirty dishes. Don't hesitate to have cookies or bread
baking, good smells make a house a home.
- Dress up your front door, scrub painted doors or oil wood doors. Flower pots
on the front porch look nice.
- In the winter, a fire in the fireplace looks inviting.
- Any rooms that need paint do it now. White or off white walls sell best.
- Tidy up the lawns, edges, fences and gardens. Also a tidy garage shows the

- Never apologize for appearances; it will only accent or distract.
- Never try to sell furniture to a customer before the transaction closes. In fact, it
is best not to attempt any negotiations with the customer; leave negotiations to
your professional real estate agent.
